“Catayo” is Life Toward Twilight’s first thematic album. It was released in early 2002, with a story written by Elayne Safir. The album is very thick, dark ambient and drone, and is a post-apocalyptic story of escape and rebirth. |
Reviews From Industrial.org: "'Catayo' works with a chamber-like darkened interior of sustaining pads, orchestral percussion and low end textures with their base pitch cranked way down until they collapse into some subterranean crypt.” From Ortus Obscurum: "This is traditional Dark Ambient, mostly composed of drones, slow rhythm sounds, and samples entwined together in quite grim and bleak soundtextures. It has a quite discrete approach and it works perfectly as background music while reading occult, esoteric or horror literature etc. 'Catayo' makes me visualise haunted moors, eerie forests and newly uncovered catacombs. It has a very mystical approach for sure that seems to appeal to the midnight side of the human psyche.” | ||||
